What's your job about?

I am an Internal Auditor of the Bank for quite some time now. The main concept or goal of my job is to give relevant reports to the management with regard to the adherence of the Bank's branches with the implemented company policies and procedures. Furthermore, my job includes giving recommendations with regard to improving the practices of the branches in relation to certain Bank's processes.

What's your background?

I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Accountancy in 2019 and passed the CPA Licensure Examination in the same year. I was a former Tax Associate at Sycip, Gorres and Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.), gaining meaningful and relevant working experience for a period of time.    

What's the coolest thing about your job?

In my perspective, the coolest thing about my job is that I am learning a lot when it comes to the banking industry, in terms of banking processes and regulations governing the bank's operations. In addition, my job is a good training ground to develop my communication skills because this job demands communication between various people and departments within the Bank.

What are the limitations of your job?

In my opinion, this job may consider certain auditor's judgements when it comes to interpreting the policies and procedures of the Bank, specifically policies containing "grey areas" which may lead to different perceptions and confusion.  

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

• Be Balanced. I know that academic excellence is the main goal or objective on the respective chosen field during one's college journey. However, one should attain holistic development in order for him/her to better know himself/herself and to have a more meaningful college life. An example of this is by joining extra-curricular groups or clubs that may hone one's talents and skills.
• Trust the Process. I know that it may sound cliche but college is really a training ground for someone in order for him/her to be ready in the real world. Hardships and failures are part of college life, and by these aspects, one should take these as opportunities to learn and to be resilient in life. Further, one should keep in mind that there is no such thing as "overnight success", everything is being earned.
• Support System. Life in college is the best time to make connections. One should bear in mind that having a support system, such as family and friends, is important in surviving college life. Further, having a social life during college will broaden your way of thinking and be critical to issues surrounding society. In order for someone to do that, you should manage and spend your time efficiently.
