Summary of role

To support Business Intelligence using the Azure suite of Analytics & Data platforms
The focus of the role is on the technical aspects and implementation of data gathering, integration and model design, with some report and dashboard creation.

Working with Azure DevOps, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Power BI to support the creation of data models for strategic & self-service Business Intelligence

Principle job responsibilities

  • Work with the Senior Data Engineer in the following tasks: -
  • Implementing robust data pipelines in Azure
  • Creating reusable and scalable data pipelines
  • Development and deployment of new data platforms, Data Warehouses, Data Marts, etc.
  • Responsible for using Azure BI services to support strategic & self-service models & reports
  • Work closely with the Senior Data Engineer in their interactions with Product Owners and Architects to develop Azure Data Platforms
  • Adhere to internal standards for coding, project tracking and documentation.
  • Integrate data from source systems/data lake into a data warehouse.

Required qualifications and experience

Note: Full training will be given where required for this role.

  • At least one year of experience in Data Warehousing with Cloud technologies
  • Graduate degree educated in computer science or a relevant subject
  • Understanding of software engineering principals
  • Understanding or experience of Azure Services like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake is a plus
  • Understanding of Project methodologies for example Agile, Scrum, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of various data sources and structures (like RDBMS, Data Lake, IoT, Blob Storage)
  • Some experience with T-SQL or any variant from other RDBMS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills in dealing with internal customers from a range of functional areas
  • Ability to work with remote & virtual project teams, third parties & consultants
  • Willingness to work flexible working hours according to project requirements
  • Technical documentation skills
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and upskill
  • Competent working as part of a team and independently
  • Fluent in English
  • Preferred
  • Knowledge of at least one data visualization platform (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau)
  • Nice to have
  • Python, .NET, C# knowledge
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) knowledge
  • Developing ETL packages using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Analytical skills, knowledge of SSAS
  • Languages: French, Italian, Russian or Spanish would be an advantage.
